Abortion has existed for a long time and is majorly attributed to unplanned pregnancy. Abortion raises several legal and ethical issues and therefore the more one reduces the chances of unplanned pregnancies the fewer the abortions will be. There are many conflicting opinions about abortion, others view as right of woman to decided what to do with her body. However, others view it as murder, pro-life belief that life starts at conception. Abortion is therefore treated differently across the word; some countries have legalized abortion while others prohibits the practice unless under special circumstances like medical complications that threatening life of a woman (Kozlowska et al., 2016).
Abortion was illegal in Canada until 1969 when it was legalized by parliament to protect the health of the mother. In most of the developed countries, abortion is conducted in accredited hospitals with licensed physicians to minimize complications associated with the practice.
