Action Plan to Address Drunk Driving

Ample evidence deduced from researches indicates that the excessive consumption of alcohol among young people is an issue that needs to be addressed. Young adults that are within the age group 18-25 are reported to engage in potentially risky behaviors such as driving under the influence of alcohol, substance use, and engaging in unprotected sex, among others. Adults driving under the influence of alcohol are responsible for causing 40-45% of all the reported fatal traffic accidents (Monti, 2015). 35% of adults that drive under the influence of alcohol are reported to be in the age group 18-25. In an effort to reduce the incidents of drinking while under the influence, I am developing a plan that will help combat this issue in the age bracket 18-25.
There are a number of factors that I will consider that will help support this plan and help adults in the age bracket 18-25 to addresses their drinking problems. First, I will reframe this issue as a community problem. By doing this, I will help bring together the range of players that are need to help address this problem (Monti, 2015). Secondly, I will offer a high-yield and low-cost approach to various institutions, to help target as many adults in this age group as possible. My plan will recommend some strategies to help reduce the incidences. First, I will seek the government to increase the effectiveness of law enforcement that governs underage alcohol consumption. One way I can achieve this is through the use of Shoulder Tap Program adoption in various communities (Monti, 2015). The second strategy I will use is to urge parents to be strict on their monitoring practices on these young adults to help curb their underage drinking, as well as deinking while under the influence of alcohol. I will also try to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of retailers’ policies that restrict the underage youths from purchasing alcohol, through programs that offer responsible retailers training. My fourth strategy will be to increase the effectiveness of policies that restrict young adults from abusing drugs in school, by working with various major schools and challenging them to reinforce these policies. My fifth strategy will be to reduce the appeal of driving while under the influence of alcohol among 18-25 year olds by working with various universities and colleges to provide information to these students, as well as using Wellness Outreach Programs to spread information to these young adults in the work place (Monti, 2015).
My plan will use a number of forums to help deliver information about the dangers of drinking while driving. I will use government officials to help spread this information to young adults in their campaigns. I will also urge policemen on duty to be strict on adults that drink while drive. I will urge parents to educate their children on the dangers of excessive drinking, as well as the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol (Phillip, 2012). I will visit various schools, and persuade them to set up lectures and movements that educate students of the dangers of excessive drinking and the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol. I will also employ Wellness Outreach Programs to spread information against alcohol abuse to these young adults in the work place (Phillip, 2012).
There are tactics in my plan that will be used to target the age group 18-25, and implement these strategies. One of the best way to target and reach out to these young adults is through reaching out to other groups formed for the sole purpose of helping adults in these age bracket who are battling alcoholism. These groups will help to point us in the right direction and tell us how best to reach these young adults. Another tactic is to coordinate a process that specifically set up to identify other partners in the community such as physicians, doctors, teachers, and local churches, who will assist us in ...
