The people with disability in the society need the specialized care provided by the social workers to give them hope in life. The social workers, therefore, encounter challenges in their efforts to help the disabled. Dealing with challenging clients who may be violent. Violence may result due to lack of understanding by the customer on the condition they are in and depression. Therefore, this can be overcome by creating awareness on disability issues in the country hence discouraging stigma towards the disabled. Stress fatigue is another challenge faced by social workers (Fahy, 2007). It is as a result of challenging clients and intense workload leading to emotional depletion. The challenge can be resolved by ensuring that the social workers are assigned to work in shifts and deal with specified groups (Bourassa, 2009).Strategies for overcoming self care challages Social workers need to develop self-care strategies as their work makes them feel drained. Therefore, this will assist them in maintaining excellent services to the clients. Exploitation of peer support among the social workers helps to prevent compassion fatigue by encouraging the employee to have breaks from work (Faust, 2007). It also entails engaging in compassionate actions and encouragement towards the co-workers. Another strategy is attending workshops by the social workers in respect to their profession or procuring online courses. Therefore, attending it workshops is the most effective self-care strategy since it enables one to build on their clinical skill, enables one to bond with peers from different areas. One is also able to have some time away from work allowing them relax and identify the region of proficiency they want to perfect.
