The World War II proved to be a fierce battle of interests among the German, Russia, French, British and the America. For a county to be successful in the battlefield, the leaders must have weapons, soldiers and a proper strategy. The World War II saw the Nazis taking on other nations and defeating them in quick successions. Coincidentally, the same day Winton Churchill became the British prime minister, Germany invaded the French, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg. With the events unfolding in the neighboring countries, Britain became cautious over the Nazis.
Winston Churchill, a newly elected prime minister faced the toughest times in power. To win the war, a proper strategy is necessary. The first strategy Churchill implemented was to rally the natives behind him. Secondly, the formation of a formidable alliance comprising of Britain, America and Russian known as the "Big Three”, took effect. To get the entire nation and allies on board, Churchill implemented the art of speech delivery. Churchill took the English language and sent it to the battlefield to a great effect (Fuller, 1993).
Because Churchill lacked enough weapons in the dark days of Second World War, the leader applied words that were defiant in nature, lightened by flashes of humor, heroic and human. The speeches reached out to every person in Britain, countries occupied by the Nazi and to the entire world. The prime minister went to radio stations, streets as well as travelled to different countries to deliver stinging speeches against the Nazis. This increased the morale of the British to defend the country. It also helped in finding allies to help Britain defeat the enemy.
In conclusion, Winston Churchill made a mark as a leader who applied the art of speech to defeat enemies in the battlefield. In May 1945, the Nazi Germany was defeated and the prime minister addressed the nation. Winston Churchill remains one of the most influential leaders Britain ever had.
