Huntington in his work used the synonym word civilization to replace culture. Civilization is the highest grouping of people in the broadest level of the cultural identity of people short of what distinguishes humans from other species (Huntington, 1993 p.2). Culture and cultural identity had significance in history, and the present days and their impacts continue to increase in the future. Civilization identity will be increasingly important in the future - the world will be shaped in large measure by the interactions among eight major civilizations; Western, Confucian, Japanese, Islamic, Hindu, Slavic Orthodox, Latin American, and African civilizations ( Huntington, 1993 p.4). Huntington pointed out that culture and cultural identity in the World in the future will great significance such as the source of conflict; change of power and economic modernization; social change. On conflict, Huntington by dividing civilization into eight major groups pointed out that language and religion are the major fundamental elements that will result in conflict in culture and cultural identity in the World in the future. He argued that Islamic religious groups are the most threat to peace in the present world. According to Huntington, Confucian- Islamic emerged to fight the West. He pointed out that, the conflict between groups of different civilizations will be more dangerous and violent compared to groups of similar civilizations will in turn lead to global conflict. The second significance is the change of power. The West is at the highest point in terms of power as compared to other civilizations. The West dominates the political and security institutions (Huntington, 1993 p.18).
