1 Introduction
Exposure to domestic violence have in most instances taken to affect adulthood. However in this study, it indicates that children are adversely affected by domestic violence which have resultantly led to tremendous forms of torture including physical, emotional, lack of security and fear among children. The purpose of this study is to identify the various effects that domestic violence impacts on children. Domestic violence threatens the security and safety of children, which in turn affects the emotion and physical well-being (Richards, & Haglund, 2015). Physical health is crucial in childhood and thus, there is need to evade the risk of domestic violence.  
2 Methods
This research will involve two fundamental methods, that is, qualitative research and descriptive analysis. The rationale for the study is attained form evaluation of secondary sources of information such as published articles of domestic violence from the survivors as well as research papers, Also this put into consideration the methods used to evade abusive relations and injustices.
The search term used involved (domestic violence in children living in the cities, urban childhood violence and Community childhood domestic violence). The study has developed the strategy (Betty, 2013). In taming tidal seas and movement treatment approach to supporting reaction regulation in assaulted children. It provides elements of real strategic method to control and respond to domestic violence against children and other forms of violence and manipulation in home settings. The study has employed the Google search engine web-search scholars in data collection from various articles and publications.
An inclusion standards for children that are basically young and are at risk of home set up environment prone to violence considering the their behavioral natures and changes, and providing distinction between their ages and sex. Those that have various permanent disabilities such as autism have been excluded in this study.
Literature review
1 Emotional and Mental Torture
Children affected by domestic violence goes through emotive and mental suffering from the impacts associated by domestic strife in the places where they live if predominantly dominated by pressure and fear. The children will observe the threats against their mothers, demeanors or physically as well as sexual assault. They also get the sound of conflict as well as violence and witness the results of the violence. These include physical injuries on their mothers and her distressing reaction to the form of violence. Children are keen to manipulations by the perpetrators of abuses against their mothers (Stanley, Miller, & Richardson, 2012). Emotional manipulation of the children by their parents may adversely obstruct a child’s perception, response, mental, or even their social development. 2 Physical Harm and Psychological
Physical reactions includes upset or pains in the stomach, bedwetting, and loss of concentration. At times, children may often face physical or even sexual assault or abandonment. The behavior-based reactions of children after witnessing domestic fights may include withdrawal or anxiety. Such children may demonstrate signs of being anxious and may lose memory and attention period which can result in bad performance at school. They can develop slow speech and cognitive ideas (Aslam, Zaheer, & Shafique, 2015). They can also apply violence in their self-expression exhibiting rise in aggression with fellow children or their abused parent. Since mothers are at risk of physical violence more than fathers, children witness more physical violence against their mothers than against their fathers (Shalev et al, 2013). Again, daughters are always at greater risk of physical violence than sons in any typical domestic violence (Matosin, Cruceanu, & Binder, 2017). Children observing any form of physical violence
imposed on the mother every so often show behavioral, mental or emotional challenges just like those faced by their physically maltreated peers.
3 Risk of Bodily Harm
Children can be engulfed at the center of a fight by chance or due to the abuser’s intentions about it. In domestic violence, children acquire injuries while held by one of their parents as the fight ensues. In the process, they may get hurt as they are struck by weapons or any object hurled at them. From time to time, exposure to domestic or family-based violence is not a mere issue of seeing the violence itself. Children are often part of the violence as victims of physical injuries as the fight episodes, either inadvertently or by intention.
Children require to develop in safe and secure environments that nurtures them. Environments characterized by frequent domestic violence provide unsafe homes and insecure environments, hence, children feel scared concerning the possibility of harm against them as well as their loved ones.
4 Direct Sexual Assault

Abuses against women are also the characteristics of physical violence. More often, sexual assaults occur against female than male children (Betty, 2013). (Harding, et al, 2013). also reveal that in domestic violence where the mother is the victim and the father is the perpetrator of physical violence or sexual violence, females (daughters) face the risk of exposure to sexual assault 7 times higher than boys in any typical abusive home. At the same time, in cases where a male is the abuser against the child in an abusive home, 75 % of the fights lead to injury against a child (Shackman, & Pollak, 2014). Domestic or family violence occurs in or after the divorce or couple separation and can include child kidnapping.
There is strong indication that perpetrators of domestic violence more often prefer use of their violent methods or abusive habits in conflict resolution and attempt to persuade or block their partners from quitting their marriages. Additionally, they do so to compel their marriage partners as well as their off-springs to return back home after a decision to separate. The perpetrators of physical abuse may try to run away with the children as a form of punishment against their women for their decision to exit.
