The Ethics of Imposing a Religion on Children
Religion informs many of the decisions undertaken by a majority of the people in the modern world. Arguments have been raised indicating that the existence of a God of a supreme being helps to create a difference between the good and the bad (McKay & Whitehouse, 2015). In most communities, morality is guided by religious practices which create a need for parents to instill their religious opinions in their children. However, forcing young ones to embrace certain beliefs is unethical because, at a young age, people barely understand the need for religious values. Moreover, before the legal age for each country, children are not expected to have political opinions; therefore, they should not be expected to hold religious beliefs. Parents have an obligation to guide their children but forcing religious opinions on young ones is unethical.
