Transgender individuals are people who have incongruence between the gender assigned to them at birth and their gender identity. Depending on the anatomical structure of the external gonads at birth, a baby is either identified as male or female. Later in life, the transgender individual develop an opposite internal sense of gender from the one assigned at birth. Therefore, they become either transgender males or transgender females and begin to participate in life events such as sports as the cisgenders. In 2004, the international Olympic committee (IOC) allowed the transgender individuals to participate in athletics which introduced a sense of unfairness to fellow athletes. This paper seeks to expound on reasons why transgender athletes should not be allowed to take part in Olympic Games together with cisgender individuals.
