How do you use emotional intelligence in your life?
Emotional intelligence can be defined as the skill to identify, judge, and be able to handle ones’ own emotions and that of other individuals or groups (Serrat, 2017). Individuals who have high emotional intelligence are perceived to carry themselves very well and can be able to handle other people’s extremities as well. They are seen to have a very positive outlook towards life and challenges. In essence nothing seems to bring them down. The most common framework of emotional intelligence covers the following thematic area; self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, social competences. social awareness and social skills. Self-awareness skills means I am aware of my own personal weaknesses and strength accurately and without bias (Antonakis & Dietz, 2010). It improves my self-confidence and self -respect. A comprehensive understanding of my strength and weaknesses means that I cannot engage in activities that I do not have the requisite skills for. This means I can pursue interest and activities that I have the requisite skills and can apply myself and complete comfortably without undue stress.
