Impact of Spousal Death on an Elderly Person (Essay Sample)

Instructions:

Older adults who live alone following the death of a spouse are more likely to be depressed than those who live with kin. The arranged living situation is essential to the elderly. It positively influences the speed of adjustment following the loss of a spouse. If the spouse was in good health before death, this change implies that the "unanticipated" incident will cause a significant psychological and social impact. For the older adult experiencing this unforeseen occurrence, frequent contact, social care, and support are critical to assist in coping with loss. Social workers and caregivers should intervene within the first year after an older person’s spouse dies.
