Impacts of Globalization on the Modern Society
Globalization can be defined as the means by which certain human ideas, beliefs, values and way of doing things are implemented globally overcoming all the barriers that divide humanity. This barriers can be religion, race or even geographical location hence globalization is seen as a means of overcoming this barriers and allowing for free interaction of humans from different places and cultures all over the world. In this paper, globalization is analyzed and presented from the critical and the radical points of view as regards. Globalization was witnessed from the earliest times as the ancient empires rose and fell. It is mainly shown by the evidence of trade between ancient empires. When critically analyzed, globalization has many merits and demerits.
Block and Cameron (2002) assert that the inter-continental exchange of language between people of different cultural and racial backgrounds is mainly attributed to globalization. In the old world, the Latin, Greek and Arabic languages were widely spoken and were the main means of communication between people of different cultures. The bible was written in Latin and the Quran written in Arabic, but these books were read by people of different languages. In the new world, English is the most widely spoken language. It is now easy for a German and a Kenyan to both communicate in English without the need for a translator.
