Importance of Effective Sex Education in Schools
Sex is one topic considered to be a taboo across many cultures. Lack of sufficient information on the subject is attributed to be the primary cause of the widespread cases of teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). In the United States, about 850 000 teen pregnancies and 9.1million STIs are reported yearly (Elders, 2008). Sex education should not be left for parents only, but it should be promoted and be firmly integrated into the school curriculum.
Sex education serves to impart kids with accurate information that helps them to make informed choices about sex. They get to understand various matters about human sexuality, learn the reasons for abstaining from sex and the benefits abstinence offers and acquire a ton of information about sexual health.
