Social deviance can be either formal or informal. Informal social deviation makes you stand out, but it is not regarded as illegal. For instance, if one wears panties that are bright green and the socks that are pink, as shown in the photo, the person would appear strange. Most people will regard that as weird, but you will not be punished because you have not done anything illegal only that you have not conformed to the societal norms.The consequences of breaking the informal societal sanctions include getting looks that are strange, but the deviation cannot land anybody in prison. In the society, people who have strange habits that are regarded as not conforming to the society cannot miss (Conley, 2017).The photo was chosen because it deals with the contentious issue of conformity to social norms. Every member of the society is expected to conform and is not then he/she will be considered a social outcast. The photo portrays a vivid picture on how non-conformists are viewed in the society (Jacobson, 2011).

Other rules that are not written or stated anywhere, but one is expected to conform to them because they are socially sanctioned though not stated anywhere. It is assumed that due to respect one is supposed to flush the toilet so that the next person who will use it will be comfortable.
