Do you think that the Australian prisons will have the same issues as the California-based prisons do?
Correction facilities in California have been linked with numerous woes and the ability of the management to control the situation has been an issue of the question. Issues such as disease contraction have been a problem in California prisons which has examined whether these facilities do what they are intended to do (Brown, 20). Australian institutions on the other hand experience better control compared to the California-based prisons. Therefore the woes being faced by California prisons are unlikely to affect the Australian prisons.
California prisons have been known for deaths of sexual offenders in the jail for many years. There has been a case of death for sexual molesters in the institutions such as that of the molester of a ten-year-old kid in April 2010 who was sentenced to second life incarceration and later killed (Rinaldi, 156). In Australian prisons, the cases of sexual harassment have been rare, and the existent cases are adequately controlled by management to satisfactory levels. Therefore Australian prisons are in a safer condition for cases of sexual molestations compared to those cases in California institutions (Brown, 34). Despite the available individual housing units for the vulnerable sexual targets in California prisons, there has always been a rising population of sexual offenders in the institutions making a value of 20 percent (Rinaldi, 147).
