Introduction
Most projects or programs on leadership aid to build some educational and management capacity in both rural and remote regions of a particular country. Understanding community associations in rural areas and enhancing leadership and management initiatives is very essential. Indeed, it is imperative to have an understanding of the relevant variables that affect rural residents and the way to conveyed administrative functions. Additionally, it is important to have the correct leadership and management skills that will enable rural communities achieve their aim. The objective of this paper is to determine a formation of leadership with specific reference to how some relationships and particular contexts influence of inform it.
Leadership formation
First of all, leadership structure helps to support rural leaders who relate to their particular communities and are eager to focus on the objectives and expectations of the communities. Rural development, to some great extent, depends on leadership and management styles or experience demonstrated by its local leaders. As the world welcomes new global ideas and socio-economic principles, there are much critical leadership and management challenges facing community leaders in rural regions. As an illustration, the genuine sacrifice and commitment of leaders to oversee community functions is the most challenging situation facing most rural areas. According to Hogan (2014), having the right leadership and management skills is critical for running rural firms and organization hence having the ability to deal with changes in technology and socio-economic trends.
Strategic management and leadership
In this context, we shall consider strategic management and leadership as a fundamental aspect influencing leadership roles in rural areas. For instance, strategic leadership can be stated as the ability of community leaders to influence the society they live in hence making the community stay focused. In similar fashion, community leaders are expected to utilize strategic leadership skills and work together with the residents in order to develop workable policies in rural regions. Most of the time, strategic leadership focuses on efficiency that plays a vital role in determining the continuity of the organization (McCausland, 2008).
Before the onset of the 21st century, rural organizational leaders knew that strategic leadership accountabilities were their solitary responsibilities. Undoubtedly, the achievements of any community do not solely depend on the decisions made by one person (Richard, 2014). It is vital to engage community members in order to make the community achieve its objectives. Rural organizations should engage all community members as much as possible. Therefore, strategic leadership is distributed across a collection of community members who are assigned specific responsibilities aimed at ensuring the success of the organization. The capability of any firm to embrace strategic leadership depends on members’ ability to identify and accept their role achievements and survival of the firm.
Strategic leadership enables many rural organizations to make use of their core competencies and objectives. In the same way, resources and innovation help to place rural organizations in a better position to face technological challenges (Greiner & Cummings, 2009). Rural organizations will embrace new technologies therefore improving their productivity and efficiency. The practice of strategic leadership in the 21st century will adopt sharing of knowledge as well as intellectual capital. With the right leadership formation, companies based in rural areas will strive to go global; going past the local borders and making entry into new markets. Organizations which have globalized are become competitive in global markets hence benefiting the locals. By the same token, any organization based in rural setting can only retain its competitive power in a situation where it has both efficient and reliable leadership. For this reason, the management team will be able to compare the expected objectives of an organization versus the available resources.
Leadership direction
Every individual has the ability to influence those around them. In any case, everybody has a unique authority and leadership style. Arguably, leadership directions are essential in building governing skills and effects of a positive influence in rural setting. For instance, a warrior has some control of professional relationships, enjoys challenges brought about by tough situations, and has a heart of perseverance. On the other hand, a healer understands the need of information in a community, eager to trust other people's views at face value, and a good team player (Berru and Marroquin, 2014). The practice of strategic leadership in rural context will adopt sharing of knowledge as well as intellectual capital.
