Introduction
I agree people should be judged by the clothes they wear, given that there exists cultural practice and societal perception that every individual within the community is expected to follow. The dressing code assists in determining the social, economic, or political class of an individual. In modern society, a dressing code is perceived as one of the major factors that define the character and behavior of an individual. Although the world of fashion is causing a substantial shift in public perceptions of dress codes, it is evident that most society members still make judgments and conclusions about people based on their attire (Sveinson 738). For instance, in modern American, going out on a date requires a fancy dressing style that depicts the level and categorizes the occasion. Judging people as per their dressing code is essential in shaping the behaviors within the community and the entire society. Some dressing codes and clothes that others wear have contributed significantly to the normalization of specific behavior within society.
Description
The topic describes some of the most common outfits women wear to grocery stores and other shopping malls. Most women prefer wearing casual clothes given that they are effectively acceptable in various sectors of shops and malls within the United States and other parts of the country. In the modern epoch, social media and other online platforms have developed an obsession that causes women to wear clothes that are not generally acceptable in the community (Marfell 580). For example, you will see that ladies who claim to be socialites may dress in private or indoor clothes in public locations. At one point, women can be witnessed wearing dresses that are ‘see-through’ to a shopping mall, making few conclusions about the women. The practice of wearing light clothing among women is common in regions that exhibit high temperatures, given that they adopt that practice to assist in the dehydration of their bodies. Women can still be seen in groceries with such clothes, irrespective of the societal perception about all these clothes.
Wearing of shorts among women from Europe and the United States has been practiced since the early 1990s. The method of wearing shorts has been worsened by introducing new policies such as ‘my dress my choice,’ which has exacerbated the adherence to various norms that govern societal behavior. Some of the typical outfits that women wear for groceries include trousers, shorts, and short dresses. Most people think of these items as dresses that people wear when they have spare time at home or on vacation (Marfell 580). The dressing on short-dresses has been witnessed in the early 21st century due to various cultural practices and even technological development changes. Women have been seen dressing in short-dresses while going to public open places like groceries and shopping malls, which most of the members of society depict as unethical practices according to society’s norms.
Sweatpants are another style of attire that has become popular among women, as seen in grocery stores and even public locations such as malls. Sweatpants are one of the latest designs of clothing that has strongly hit the fashion market, with most women adopting the practice in various parts of the world. Dressing on sweatpants in different grocery stores among women is a common practice that has increased critics among individuals who embrace other cultural practices in the community. Many young girls and women wear sweatpants since they are comfortable going around (Marfell 580). At the grocery stores and various malls, series of customers who feel offended by the dressing code adopted by women in public places have made series of complaints to assist the authorities in addressing the issue. Despite the dressing code of women at groceries, there exist various organizations that help in advocating for different rights of women; thus, dressing is perceived by many as a way in which women express themselves.
Causes of Casual Dressing in Public Places
It should be discussed why most people choose to dress casually in public places. One of the primary reasons people dress casually is the comfort they find while wearing casual clothes. Most people find it more comfortable while in casual clothing due to the freedom exhibited by casual clothes. In some workplaces, a casual dressing code is highly embraced by the organization to create an effective employee environment. Most people find it more exciting and comfortable walking around in casual clothes, given that they do not depict momentous occasions thus rarely attract the attention of individuals around others. Another reason why people dress casually in public places is due to the self-expression associated with the clothes (Ahrens and Andrew 49). When individuals are dressed in clothing of their choice, they always tend to exhibit some comfort aspect, making it more essential for them to easily interact with others within the community and various parts of society.
The cost of most casual attire is another reason why individuals prefer to dress more informally in public. Generally, the price of casual clothes is meager; thus, they are easily affordable to most people. The economy is currently high for most people across the globe due to the outbreak of Covid-19, which tends to paralyze most of the economic activities in serval parts of the world. The production cost of most casual clothes is meager, contributing to the low sales of the products. In most developing countries, the sales of second-hand clothes from developed countries have made it more effective for most individuals residing in these areas to adopt wearing casual clothes (Ahrens and Andrew 49). The majority of individuals find it comfortable to purchase casual clothes following the prices of most casual clothes at the retail shops. Despite the low cost of most casual attire, most individuals still face the challenges of dressing casually in public places due to their perception of casual clothes.
Preference and choice is another reason why people chose to wear casual clothes at public places. Every individual has a teste of the type of clothing they would prefer to choose or rather wear on various occasions. The wearing of casual clothing is widespread among the youth due to the design and fashion it exhibits. The majority of young adults in both developing and developed countries are driven by fashion which is commonly shown in casual clothing. The preference of dressing in casual clothing in public may also be caused by the fact that the majority perceives casual clothes as depicting morale among members of society (Ahrens and Andrew 49). According to research done by series of scientists, casual dressing is essential in improving the psychological state of most individuals. The practice of dressing casually at a public place has been associated with increased comfort, thus boosting the morale of various individuals assisting in the excretion of oxytocin hormones related to happiness. The practice of dressing casually in public is adopted as culture by some communities; thus, they always embrace their cultural practice.
Effects of Casual Dressing
The overall effect of causal dressing on audience perception of different people is another primary topic that is worth discussing. Generally, most community members will be rash in judging or categorizing individuals based on their dressing code. For instance, dressing in suits makes one be perceived as wealthy; thus, they are likely to be accorded some respect. One of the significant effects of causal dressing is the subjection of an individual to discrimination and judgmental states. When someone is dressed casually, they are likely to be subject to some critics, showing some lack of respect (Gurney et al. 140). According to societal perception, t...
