Introduction The term ethics may refer to a set of principles that may alter the considerations that have been made previously with respect to choices and actions. Basically, this can be viewed as a branch in philosophy that is majorly focused on making dynamic decisions regarding what is right or wrong. Communities and individuals alongside social values are central to all activities that human beings are involved in, including research. This means that whenever nurses find themselves participating in research studies three things are bound to be in conflict: science, society and nursing as a practice. There are sets of rules and guidelines that a nurse shall face when conducting research and this involves the manner in which the investigations are handled. The care and the values held by those carrying out the research is more important to the dissemination of information to both the interviewee and the interviewer. Concepts, phenomena The main ethical issues in conducting the research included the following concepts: informed consent, beneficence-do not harm, respect for anonymity and confidentiality, respect for privacy, vulnerable groups of people, skills of the researcher, the nature of the nursing, advocacy of nursing and conflict in nursing, conflict in researcher's role (Long, 2011). Methods of study The research used the Medline and the nursing Cinahl data base, it emphasized on the most essential ethical issues which were appearing in bibliography. After a short description of the nursing nature the nurses' advocacy role, the researcher attempted to highlight the probable conflicts that nurses had to deal with, as they undertake or participate in research. Results of study The main ethical issues in conducting research included informed consent, respect for anonymity and confidentiality, beneficence – do not harm, respect for privacy.
