Same-sex marriage is a topic that has generated ethical, social and legal conflicts around the world. Its moral position and validity have been heatedly discussed. The underlying inconsistency on the matter makes this a serious issue that is unlikely to be resolved.
The most prevalent argument against same-sex marriage is that it is not natural. Unnatural might be considered a statistical idea where a human characteristic is strange if many individuals may not have it. Additionally, it is regarded as peculiar when it does not fulfil its primary funaction (Van der Toorn et al., 2017). Same-sex marriage will be unnatural in this sense because most individuals do not indulge in it.
However, proponents contend that these are not enough reasons for rejecting same-sex marriage. It is unnatural to be extraordinarily big or left-handed, yet we cannot criticize such people (Perales, Bouma & Campbell, 2019). If gay marriage has to be condemned since it is not meant for procreation; a series of other acceptable behaviours and practices such as masturbation and oral sex has to be denounced.
Nearly all ethical theories rely on some form of golden rule variation. It is placing oneself in the situation of another person to comprehend how your actions affect them. It is unethical for you to do something to someone if you would not like someone to do the same thing to you (Perales, Bouma & Campbell, 2019). Therefore, no one would like to be denied the right to
