In the millennium, children are being treated as resources as opposed to problems that have to be managed. Various decision makers and policy makers agree that extracurricular activities, in all their forms are important to the overall development of the entire community, especially the youths. The community should offer developmentally supportive extramural activities to act as a catalyst for promoting growth and the healthy growth of the individuals encompassing the community. Some of these supplementary activities can include sports, drama and theatre, board games and athletics. A mounting body of research demonstrates the potent bank of gains that can be drawn from the community and extracurricular activities. In the most diverse and economically impoverished areas, extracurricular activities have had the most positive influence on all the participants who took part in them. Well planned extracurricular activities allow youths to interact with upright adults who are caring enough to guide them and mentor them. They take part in character-building activities that reinforce their emotional development, civic engagement and identity development.
