What are the steps used in blowing the whistle for suspected unethical behavior?
Sometimes client may start queer behaviours or some misconduct behaviours in the job and then employers are forced to whistleblow him or her so that to mentain the status of the organization and even to be able to control other employees who may also be affected by their colleague unethical behaviours in the working premises.
Before whisleblower,blowing the whistle for a clients uneathical behavoirs you have to follow the fllowing steps.
Write down everything, note down misconducts performed by the client having unethical behavours, and the person you inted to whistleblow from your organization. This is done in order to have a formal argument with evidences when having a conversation with the client. This buids confidence to whislebrower since the person will not deny, that it did not happen like that. Those unethical beahvour are noted down in a notebook with dates and allegations he has committed to keep the evidences.
Set time to talk with the inteded person,when you discover that that an employee engaging in unethical behavior ,as a manager or the leader take the time and to talk to him or her .i.e. Invite the client in your office or any other private place . be open and honest and explain to him what you have observed or overhead . basic point being to start a converstion and keenly listening to what he or she has to say on the allegation he as committed. Listen to the both sides before making any conclusions or judgements to avoid misundersterding and unnecessary conflotation. This talk gaves the employee time to express him or herself before the judgement is done. And then explain to him the job descrptions on terms, condations and reponsibilties he she has violated.explanation of functions and roles makes you to be able to solve the issue clearly .
Initiate a performance improvement plan, this articulates the problem areas which should be ironed to avoid whisleblowing of a client. After whislebrower meeting and giving a belive warning to the client on his unethical misconducts, this gaves client time to improve his performance. Performance improvement plan gives also a detailed details on parts the person is advised to correct .Sometimes improvement plan may even involve verbal counselling or rehabitation process so as to create positive changes from unethical behavours .
Conduction of written councelling ,if the person doesnot change after verbal councelling and he or she contineus with his unethical behaviors you can gave him written councelling on the immediate improvement he should make on his miscondct behavours. This written document should be signed or licenced by the organizatio of the whisleblower to ensure that the warning was given earlier before the whisleblowing and termination of the agreements ,
Followups and conclusions, this is the final warning whereby the whisleblower or the management makes final follow ups on the suspected unethical behavours and if the person has failed to change the behavours the management files up the final report which is used to whistleblow the client becouse of his unethical behavours, this are conclided and signed and the earlier documents are attached to act as the evidence incase the client tries to file a case .
