Why Hitler Seduced Germany Through Speeches Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Course Instructor Due Date Why Hitler Seduced Germany Through Speeches Indisputably, Hitler’s political success can be attributed to his oratory prowess and charisma. Despite being delusional, he could persuade German citizens of his political ideologies through his rhetorical skill. However, some researchers argue that he managed to convince people because of his passive-aggressive style that fortified the Germans’ confidence in their military power. In this regard, Hitler could seduce Germany through his speeches because he was a skilled orator, his aggression against Germany’s enemies fostered national pride, and he manipulated the socioeconomic plight to promise prosperity. Indisputably, Hitler’s most outstanding leadership quality was his oratory skill. According to Takala and Auvinen (2016), he developed this ability by reading newspapers and debating with homeless people while living in Vienna’s streets (p. 26). While he failed to enter his preferred school for arts, he had an inquisitive nature and interest in politics, which propelled him to adopt strong political opinions. Eventually, his rhetorical prowess flourished when joining the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP). As one of the party leaders, he often gave speeches using simple language and phrases that every German, including the uneducated, could grasp (Why the Nazis). Takala and Auvinen (2016) further present that he repeated words to emphasize and capture the people’s attention (p. 27). Thus, Hitler’s rhetorical competence gradually elevated him to national prominence. Additionally, Hitler’s aggression against Germany’s enemies increased his influence on Germans. After World War 1, many Germans, especially Hitler, became bitter about the loss and subsequent Versailles Treaty. The NSDAP or Nazi party promoted the ideology that the Weimar Republic demonstrated weakness by abiding by the treaty’s repressive terms. He criticized the government and promised Germans that the Nazi party would address their issues (Why the Nazis). According to Forbes (2016), Hitler convinced them that Russia, America, and British were all enemies, and battling them would help them in defense and survival. Moreover, since people were frustrated because of their loss in the war, Hitler’s aggressive statements against the Jews, who were on the other political divide, made him seem like a national hero. Therefore, his speeches convinced people because he targeted Germany’s enemies and hostile policies. Subsequently, Hitler utilized Germany’s plight to make promises to repair the economy and national pride. In the aftermath of World War 1, Germany's economic vitality and military strength declined. Takala and Auvinen (2016) assert that Hitler outlined his strategy to save Germany (p. 27). Despite Hitler’s charismatic speeches being unrealistic, he easily persuaded Germans because they desperately needed a solution. Essentially, people believed he cared about the country’s problems (W...
