The authors have used a quantitative research design to obtain objective data on drug abuse and depression through accurate statistics and numbers. The authors of the article have used ANOVA as a statistical method to separate variance data observed through the research and place the variance data into varying components for further tests and analysis. In addition, since the research involves more than three groups of observed data, ANOVA testing gives researchers a further understanding of independent and dependent variables. Therefore, the authors have used ANOVA in the article to determine whether there is a relationship between drug Depression, drug abuse, and African American children whose parents are in jail. The authors are justified in using ANOVA testing for the research article since it has provided an overall equality test of group means.
