At any temperature above the absolute zero, all bodies radiate (Misner, 1969). The frequency and the extent of the radiation depend on the structure of the body. A black body is an excellent absorber and therefore, a perfect emitter. A black body can absorb all radiations falling on it and similarly radiate it out as a result of the thermal energy. Most of the astronomical bodies like the stars are perceived to be close to a black body. Nevertheless, there is nothing that is perfect; therefore, no object is a perfect black body. The atoms that make up an object emit and absorb light of specific frequencies as compared to others (Novikov, 1995). 
Black body radiation is the radiation of a black body. A black hole is a space-time region in which gravity is preventing any emission including light (Hawking, 1976). Therefore, black holes are thought to be perfect black bodies because all the radiation falling on the black bodies are totally absorbed. Similarly, the black holes are not built up of atoms. Therefore, they have the ability to absorb all radiations and radiate a pure or perfect thermal spectrum. Research shows that the black holes emit black body radiation. Hawking radiation is the radiation of black bodies, and it takes place at a thermal temperature associated with the mass of the black hole (Misner, 1969).
