CYBERCRIMES.
In the world today the use of internet is fast becoming a key part of our everyday lives. Internet users across all ages are surfing the web, sharing information and interacting. According to Moore (2005) cyber crime is any illegal act committed using modern communication network such as the internet and mobile phones.This crimes are committed to individuals or group of individuals by people with ill motives to intentional cause physical or mental harm or harming their reputations. Cybercrime is the fastest growing area of crime and many criminals are using this to their advantage. CITATION ano14 \l 2057 (anon, 2014) Cybercrimes have been evolving with time. Initially they were mostly carried out by individuals but at present they have become more organised and sophisticated. Groups of professionals comes together and joins their resources and expertise to commit the crimes at a wider scale and targeting big organisations or government corporations. Cybercrime encompasses a broad range of activities that includes cyber-attacks, cyber theft, cyber stalking, and other computer security incidents that encompasses spywares, hacking, phishing, spoofing, pinging, port scanning regardless of whether the breach was successful or damage or losses were sustained as a result. Cybercrimes have many effect to individuals, organisation, nation and the international community. It leads to health and financial complication as well as destabilises the peace and harmony across region through activities such as cyber terrorism and cyber warfares.it also leads to releasing of confidential information to public and piracy of products.In most countries, they have set legal laws that tries to curb the cybercrimes and bring to justice the offenders. Other nations such as the United States of America have created anti cybercrime units that tackles the issue of cybercrime. Having a common legal framework would facilitate the law enforcement on borderless cybercrimes by eliminating jurisdiction hurdles but a complete realization of such a common legal framework may be impossible due to diverse domestic frameworks for the different nations. Educating the internet users so that they can be aware of cybercrimes and safe and responsible use of the internet will reduce the crimes. Letting the teachers and the parents teach the children on responsible internet use and the effects of cybercrime.
In conclusion, computer technology advances quickly and so does the cybercrimes that leads to many social problems.
