The Middle East has been a focus of the world in the 21st century. Despite sustained efforts to bring peace in the region, the Middle East has been rocked by a wave of violence with devastating effects on some countries and their citizens. The conflict has multiple dimensions stemming from a number of factors such as geopolitical rivalries from key players in the region such as Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and their proxies in Yemen to terrorism. However, some have associated the ills of the region to a more sophisticated movement namely Islamic Fundamentalism. Fundamentalist groups are usually conservatisms that advocate for the strict conformation to religious texts usually from a literal interpretation emphasizing on totalization of the Islamic code.
