Emancipation of women involves efforts and activities that empower women to achieve great things in life. Such efforts not only empower women on domestic issues, but also offer them opportunities in the corporate world. Women have been faced with prejudice and oppression for a long time now. Many cultures and traditions have restricted the participation of women in society to domestic activities only. However, different civil-rights groups have focused on empowering women to discover their potential and challenge for top positions in leadership and social activities as well. Emancipation of women, therefore, involves creating the enabling environment for women to prosper in leadership positions, and show their worth to society. Emancipation of women empowers the fair gender to take up leadership positions and to be actively involved in decision-making processes in society.
There are many advantages that come with the involvement of women in leadership activities. For example, women are known to introduce fresh and gentle ideas in any activity that they partake. For a long time, the perception of society towards women has been that of less equal beings who do not deserve to be heard. However, emancipation efforts have empowered women and given them the confidence needed to take on leadership positions. Culture and gender stereotypes are among the challenges that face women in their day-to-day activities. Different cultures across the world do not value the inclusion of women in social or corporate activities. These cultures have worked to the disadvantage of women and frustrated their efforts to prosper in life.
The perception of society that the fair gender is weak and incapable of accomplishing some tasks is demeaning and unfair. Women have been known to be the pillars that hold families together. Therefore, the ability of women to take care of their families demonstrates that they can lead. Men have done little to help uplift the welfare of women. In fact, men in different communities across the world do not perceive women as leaders. Emancipation of women has successfully helped different women to rise above stereotypes and discrimination. The number of women in leadership positions has also increased from the previous negligible numbers.
When women take up leadership position, they contribute to the socio-economic welfare of society. Furthermore, the success that women achieve in social and corporate fronts serves as an encouragement to young girls. Through emancipation of women, the perception of society on women has shifted from less important to imperative. The welfare of young girls is also taken care of because they observe the successful women as their role models. The collective result is an educated society that gives opportunities to both men and women without discrimination or favor. Therefore, it is important to empower women and make them realize that they can take up any leadership positions.
In conclusion, the importance of women empowerment cannot be overstated because of the role that women play in society. Women are known to be the pillars of the family structure. The skills that help women to keep families together can be translated in other activities, especially in leadership positions. Women leaders are also known to be considerate and effective hence helping them match up to their male counterparts, and sometimes do better. Emancipation of women, therefore, is an important factor is ensuring that the world is well balanced in terms of gender participation. Even though campa...
