Audit Independence And Audit Quality Accounting Research (Essay Sample)

Students are required to select, (by reference to two media articles), an issue that has called into question the professionalism, skills and knowledge of an audit firm in the undertaking of an audit of an Australian company listed on the ASX as at January 2017.
The media articles must have been published on or after 1st January 2016 1. Students are to analysis the area(s) of the audit(s) that appear to have not been carried out in accordance with the auditing standards and/or the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants.
2. Students must link the applicable audit standard(s) and section(s) of the Corporations Act 2001 to the issue(s) raised in the articles. Students should also identify any other standards or references to the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, that should have enabled the auditor(s) to identify and address the problem(s).
3. Students will be expected to refer predominantly to academic journals, the accounting standards and the auditing standards as well as relevant sections of the Corporations Act 2001 in their essay. Less than fifteen appropriate academic references would be considered insufficient.
