I agree with you that while other assets are essential, cash is the ultimate asset that businesses cannot do without because of its irreplaceability. I believe that every transaction a business conducts has an element of cash involved. It is so important that Goldberg and Godwin, (2003, 75) termed it the decider between success and failure. They also called cash king because the presence of enough cash flow in the business ensures that suppliers, employees, and creditors are paid without delay. Your point about cash being the only way that settlements and arrangements can be done is correct but you could have highlighted other arrangements such as trade-ins that at times replace the exchange of cash.
