The ethics principles are crystal clear that all organisations are supposed to be socially responsible for the environment that they are in and at the same time the stakeholders of the firm. The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a combination of business practices that play a vital role in providing benefits to society. The primary function of Corporate Social Responsibility is to assist companies to incorporate some form of sustainability into the core of the operations that the company is undertaking. The incorporation ensures that the value for the business is shared equally in the society (Carroll and Shabana, 2010). Additionally, Corporate Social Responsibility has the duty of ensuring that stakeholders of an organization are treated ethically or in a manner considered to be responsible or humane. Therefore, all corporations have the moral obligation of ensuring that they engage in Corporate Social Responsibility programs so that they can be able to achieve their goals and objectives. The idea of being responsible, profit enhancement and protection of the environment are crucial for any business. Therefore, this paper will look into the history of corporate social responsibility concept and its relationship to the ethical theories of utilitarianism, justice and duty.
