Introduction
‘Smart Digital Retail’ is a start-up that provides businesses with a digital retail platform to sell their products at a small fee. The company will provide logistical services that involve the shipment and delivery of goods from vendors to consumers. Small businesses are currently struggling when it comes to gaining exposure since the days of traditional marketing are nearly coming to an end. The new start-up will have everything that small businesses need to level the playing field. In the digital era, most consumers have their attention devoted to their devices. Businesses that cannot adapt to this reality are being left behind. Once the platform is active, businesses can start loading products on their digital stores. The capability of this e-commerce will be supported with digital marketing features, including local directory features, social media management, GPS store locators, and SEO. The consumers will also reap the benefit of better local exposure to different products through better convenience. Simply accessing the site will present customers with a view of the best deals irrespective of where they are.
Online and Traditional Forms of Entrepreneurship
Today, there are numerous forms of online entrepreneurship. They include Affiliate Marketing, Drop Shipping, Blogging, Online Video, and Information Products, among others (Finkle and Olsen, 2019, p.136). Dropshipping may be defined as a supply chain management where the retailer does not keep stock but instead transfers orders to manufacturers, wholesalers, or retailers, who then ship the products to the consumer. The business only needs to focus on advertising and marketing to find customers and then make sales. After making sales, the rest is handled by other players. Affiliate marketing is similar to drop shipping except that here, the business maintains an inventory, which means that no shipping is required. All the business needs do is to provide a link. Once the customer clicks the link, the affiliate partner handles everything, including billing, customer service, and order fulfillment (Finkle and Olsen, 2019, p.136). Blogging involves posting original content that is useful for the target audience. Starting a blog could be easy, but it takes time and effort to make money while building readership. An online video is a form of online entrepreneurship which involves creating sites or apps where people can subscribe to what videos, movies, or play songs online. Finally, information products involve using video, audio, or texts to create useful or engaging content for the audience. Examples of such contents include travel guides, how to apply make-ups, or spoken word products.
