Introduction
As the largest international as well as domestic airline in Australia, it is important to examine how Qantas employ resource based view (RBV) approach to achieve its goals and strategies. The proposal therefore, presents the six steps the relating to RBV and interlinks their application with Qantas Company. Despite Qantas achievement in building a reputation that focuses on excellence in safety, reliability in its operations, customer service as well as engineering and maintenance, examining how they relate to RBV concept is essential (Richardson et al, 2010, pg. 73).
RBV considers various factors that ensure aligning an organization’s strategies and goals towards a common objective as Qantas portrays. To effectively understand how Qantas or any other organization employs RBV concept, focusing on specific areas and assessing their level of adherence to the RBV approach is essential. The areas under exploration relates to the following aspects:
How Qantas adapts to RBV characteristics of adherence to best fit model.
Qantas deals with origins as well as assumptions in the management level.
Terms of resources withheld by Qantas that enhances growth and development and new investments (Kamoche, 2009, pg. 196).
Competencies that include competence and core capability in its service provision (Roy, et al, 2010, pg. 123).
The HR strategy is essential in ensuring employee retaining that in return plays a significant role in customer service (Boxall and Purcell, 2009, pg. 16).
Tow institutional isomorphism affects Qantas on both the regional, domestic and international level where the company provides services (Paauwe and Boselie, 2003, pg. 49).
Conclusion
The success of Qantas Company is attributed mostly to its adoption of RBV concept in its management system. Through effective application of the RBV concept the airline ensures maintenance of a competitive advantage against its competitors in the airline market in Australia as well as at the international level (Schuler and Jackson, 2011, pg. 238).
