Quantitative analysis pros and cons
Generally, quantitative research entails surveying a large group of people to gather relevant information on their point of view on something (Gruhn, 1991). Scholars and researchers use the technique to collect reliable data on a particular research problem. It can be done using questionnaires with close-ended questions, one on one interviews, by mail, or by telephone. The feedback is statistically analyzed and data presented in various forms. As it is with other methods, these method has pros and cons which this paper will look at.
One of the merits of this method is that the type of research carried out is numerical. Therefore there is no misinterpretation of the results. At least three samples of data are collected using the same quantitative method and the results are compared (Jackson, 2016). This makes the results to be accurate since the average results are the one to be considered. Additionally, it gives reliable information of a wide view of the study. This information can be useful in planning and outlaying of messages to a wide public, for example, a country.
However, this technique has cons which are unavoidable. For the technique to be carried out, it requires a huge amount of cash. The number of questionnaires used is many since the population targeted is big. Therefore, to print the questionnaire large amount of cash is required. Besides, transportation fee to meet with the correspondents is high since the correspondents are in different locations.
