Organizational emergence is a dynamic process necessitating various activities, such as seeking funds, acquiring resources, hiring employees, and producing products. New business ventures undertake these activities at different order to gain stakeholders’ trust and to build the foundation for developing unique capabilities. In their quest to establish successful enterprises and develop strong yet unique brands, business start-ups often face multiple issues. Some of the critical issues derailing organizational emergence include inappropriate business model, poor management, inadequate capital, and poor marketing. Most entrepreneurs, however, usually underrate or overlook the importance of these factors. As a result, a majority of the business start-ups generally collapse before they have an opportunity to gain momentum.
Most business start-ups tend to crumble within the first year of their establishment because of an inappropriate business model. Despite its importance, start-ups find it difficult to develop an innovative business model that would produce long-lasting products, focus on satisfying consumers’ needs, and promote conscious marketing (Powell & Sandholtz, 2012, p.4). Consequently, they fail to identify their target market, create strong brand awareness, and communicate effectively with their clients. Such businesses end up failing because of their inability to increase sales and gain sustainable competitive advantage.
