Book Summary
Luce's de Bohemia is a play written by writer Ramón Maria Del Vallen-Inclan in 1920. In this setting, the writer initiates a new fictional category knows as the grotesque. The grotesque refers to how the writer recounts a partial image of realism. Nonetheless, in the play, the writer refers to grotesque as an image reflected through a concave mirror. The grotesque in this play is about the social, economic, and political factors that happen in Spain. In luces de Bohemia play, the main character is called Max Estrella, who is married to Madame Collet, and they have one child. Max is portrayed as a poem writer, blind, and in a huge financial predicament.[LYON, J., 1970. A note on the two versions of "Luces de bohemia." Bulletin of Hispanic Studies, 47(1), pp.52-56.]
Analysis of Luces De Bohemia
Lorca, Valle-Inclan, and Unamuno all three had a drive to powerfully rejuvenate Spanish drama through coming in up with contents that were meant to challenge religion, human nature, and communal beliefs by making their works innovative. They were not happy with the commercial and 'dead' states of the Spanish theatre, which was controlled by Hermanos, and every so often provided comprehensively for predictable taste. This essay will critically analyze the plot, characters, and language in the book Luces De Bohemia by Valle-Inclan. The paper will also establish how the play is regarded as an innovative dramatic text. [Ibid]
Valle Inclan work was characterized by his disregard for the current issues in his early profession at the beginning of the 20th century. This is contrary to Unamuno, who at least had tried to understand why the Spanish political watersheds and kingdom had collapsed. Besides, Valle Inclan further sought the reminiscence of Feudal history, unlike his colleagues. Meanwhile, after World War 1, Vallen Incan decided to change his style of writing significantly. He questioned his previous forbearance after the experience of World War I. Luces de Bohemia was regarded as on his first serious efforts to try and challenge the situation of the theatre at that time and adopt a more harsh tone. In his play, Luce's de bohemia, he challenged the audience through his comments on the unrestrained politics in Spain. His wild tone talked of the rebirth of the second republic and dictatorship of Premo De Rivera between 1924 and 1930, as well as the disastrous incident that took place in Barcelona. Valle Inclan further uses temporary units to mix the grotesque aspects, but besides these aspects, the leeway that Catalan exile demonstrated in their capacities when all employees suffered during 'tragic week' in Barcelona. The author describes it as the “cry of the brotherhood” for the employees across the globe to reunite and fight against the reputable injustice. [Park, L. & Banyai, I., 2007. Tap Dancing On the Roof. New York: Clarion Books.] [Valle-Inclán, R. & Lyon, J., 2006. Lights of Bohemia =. Oxford: Oxbow.]
