Introduction
Gregory of Nyssa was the Bishop of Nyssa from the year 372 to 376 and from 378 to 395 when he died. He was a great Theologian and he greatly contributed in the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and the Nicene Creed. In his treatise on ‘The Great Catechism’, he explains how ministers should customize the teachings to suit the situation at hand and be useful to the person to whom they are ministering. The purpose of this paper is to explore Gregory’s thoughts on the unity of the Trinity, the Incarnation and the Sacraments. Gregory writes that perfection belongs to God and His unity is to be found in that perfection and that it was necessary for humans to degenerate to their lowest before the Incarnation would take place. The Sacraments save us and unite our bodies and souls to God.[Meredith, Anthony. Gregory of Nyssa. (London: Routledge, 2005), 13] [Ibid, 21]
