Over time, the human race has managed to create works of art that exhibit visual features that are particular to the place and period which they originate. Compliant with this assignment, it was a privileged opportunity to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the biggest and best art museums in the world. Its collection includes works of art dating back to the Archaic period as well as classical as well as the contemporary works of art. In this paper, we are going to look at the various artists and materials that stood out in the course of our visit in the museum.
One of the works of art that stood out was the marble statue of a kore (maiden) dating back to the archaic period. As a matter of fact, the statue follows the scheme and costume as the legendary statues of korai found in Acropolis, Athens. As shown below, she wears a cloak chiton and, and with the left hand (now missing) she pulls the cloak tight across her thighs which gives the statue a more realistic feel.
