The water is tapped from springs around California.
TRIPLE BOTTOM ANALYSIS
PROFIT
The company have been on the rise in terms of profit realisation through its effort to reduce the cost of production by focusing on cost effective measures such as bottling recycling of water bottles, reducing transportation cost through by strategically placing the bottling company and efficient transportation. The company has been expanding very fast as they have installed bottling plant in los Angeles and have teamed up with nestle waters of north America Inc. that leads the bottled industry with new and innovative packages. (Arrowhead, 2014)
The company profit margin have been increasing at a rate of 5 percent in the past 10 years from the efficiency in production and marketing.
In my view the company investments and production cost reduction are all indicators of an expanding company thus shows the company is over performing .if the company continues in the same direction it shall gain more market control and have advantage over the other established competitors in the market. The company continuous investment means that the company’s financial position now and in future is secured. This is one of the important pillars for a sustainable business environment. With the increased income and more investments will mean more job opportunity for the community as well as well as more investments in the eco-friendly measures undertaken by the company. This will lead to better company’s business sustainability.
PLANET
The company is eco-friendly as it has put forward measure to reduce environmental pollution as well as protect the environment through the production process as well as sponsored activities. The measures includes:
* In the past 15 years the company has reduced the amount of PET plastics in their bottles by 60 % thus they have reduced plastic use by 260 pound of plastic. This have reduced the plastics amount that could pollute the environment.it has also led to reduced plastic production thus saving on energy use and reduce carbon IV oxide emission.
* They have reduced carbon IV oxide emission to the environment by 30% for each litre of water produced in the past five years. This has been made possible strategically placing the bottling plant and more efficient road ways thus reducing the transportation need.
* The company have built nine LEED (leadership in energy and environmental design) certified plants which enhance energy efficiency, water efficiency and resource efficiency.(Nestle , 2008)
* The company enhance recycling and re using of water bottle to reduce the plastic that released to the environment thus causing environmental pollutions.
* This has further been enhanced by the companies’ effort to increase the recycle-able material in the water bottle unlike the other competing companies. The company thus have an initiative of bottle water collection after use for recycling purposes thus reduced environmental pollution.
* The company motto and objective focus on satisfying the customers’ needs in an eco-friendly process. This has been through many of the company’s efforts to conserve the environment such as sponsorship of environmental conservation projects around California. It has also been involved in community sensitisation programmes on environmental conservation. And also involving the community in conservation programmes.
* Arrowhead Company taps its water directly from the spring and minimal interference of the surrounding natural environment thus ensuring its wellbeing.
All this supportive factors reveals that the company does its best in protecting and conserving the environment and also to ensure a sustainable production with minimal environmental disturbance.in my view this steps are important in safeguarding the environment and ensuring a green future thus they are net positive to the bottom line and as a key pillar to sustainable development of the business in the future
PEOPLE
The company provides promotion to the customer and support a number of organisation that promotes community engagement and healthy living. The company is a proud sponsor of universal studios Hollywood, Rock ’n’ Roll marathon series among other indoor games. The company is also a member of nestle water north America Sponsorships that cater for sponsorship of many of the green movements for sustainable environmental management and helping the communities in different ways. (Nestle, 2011). This is also achieved by the company sensitization programmes to both the community and the private at large on different issues such as health and sustainable resource management.
All this organisations effort is ensuring that the community around it also benefit from the natural resource as well as ensuring that the communities assist in the process of sustainable development and environmental conservation. The effort of the company ensure building up a social bond between it and the community that is a key pillar to sustainable business development.
The company protects its worker by ensuring they are working in healthy environment. It also looks at welfare of the family members of its workers to ensure that they are doing fine and the worker has no stress from external factors that will reduce his or her working efficiency.
STAKEHOLDERS ANALYSIS
COMPANY ANALYSIS
Arrowhead Company has its own strengths and weakness in its operation. The company focus on its strength to increase its profit margin and explores ways to overcome its weakness.
Strength
The company utilises recycled bottles in the production process thus reduces the cost of production as well as deposition of the waste plastics. This leads the company to have a large profit margin as well as selling its products at a fair cheaper price.
The company have been in the market for quite a long terms thus it has earned the market trust and hold a specific position in the market which is advantageous compare to the newly formed company.
The company has a wide immediate market available next to the bottling plant i.e. the California resident that provide local market and constant income for the company.
The company forming partnership such as that with nestle waters of north America increased the company markets explored and superiority of its product in the market. This also provides the company with a bright promising future.
Weakness
Compared to some of its competitors such as Dasani and Fiji water brand, the water quality of the arrowhead brand is less ideal as it has less mineral content.
The company only majors with bottled water bottling production which has small market margin. Thus the company in come is not diversified (McMahon, 2014). Open up other beverage lines could diversify the company income.
The company is a poor competitor in the market when compared to the other established companies such the Fiji water company. This has led to slow achievement of the company goals. The company now has started to overcome this weakness by forming partnership with other established market holders to increase its market dominance.
Although the company have been involved in a number of sponsorship events and community involvement, it has not done enough for maximum social support and environmental protection for a sustainable future.it thus has to do more on this issues for healthy development of the company.
