The fast advancement in technology has affected every aspect of our lives. The Digital revolution has perhaps had the biggest impact. For a long time, society has depended on mass media for information. However, with the digital revolution, the audience that previously depended on media is taking an active role in contributing to the news being relayed. Although this posed various challenges to mainstream media, the British Broadcasting Cooperation has found ways to encounter the digital revolution's impact.
BBC has heightened its corporation with third party social media networks. The last decade has seen the BBC include various social media platforms in its output. The news channel realizes the impact of social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube CITATION DWe18 \l 1033 (Welding, Fray, and Molitorisz). The rise of these channels has challenged mainstream media, especially in the relaying of breaking news. User-generated content is almost instantaneous. By the time mainstream media like the BBC gets to research the news, the news is already time-barred.
