Kurt Vonnegut's novel The Sirens of Titan
The Sirens of Titan is a must-see film that takes you on a wild voyage through time, space, and morality. It follows Malachi Constant, the world's wealthiest man, on his journey from Earth to Mars, Mercury, and then back to Earth, before landing on Saturn's moon Titan. Winston Miles Rumfoord, an American aristocrat who has been distributed over time and space after travelling to Mars in a warped region of the solar system, seems to control and rule Constant. Rumfoord forms a little Martian community for his first mission and then leads them on a suicide mission to take over Earth. This is all part of his goal to establish a new religion on Earth, one that teaches that God has no care for humanity's well-being. The most apparent deep reading of the narrative is an argument for humanity's meaningless randomness. Everything in the novel co-occurs, apparently out of nowhere, and radically upends the characters' lives.
