Boyle’s Greasy Lake
Boyle’s Greasy Lake story is set up as a typical narrative of a rebel without a course. The story revolves around three rebellious boys searching for trouble on an evening in summer, aproblem which they finally find. The author tells the story through the narrator, terming it as a time when it was good to be evil. However, at a close analysis of the short story, it appears that the three teenagers get lost in between the changing culture. It is therefore imperative to analyze the plot of the story to understand further how various elements progress the story.
The foreshadowing at the beginning of the story indicates that the will be action (Shaw & Valerie, 24). At one point, the boys claim that they were terrible, that they even read a book about theconflict between desire and discipline, the boys then stand in an instantaneous pose to show how they did not care about anything. At dusk, the teenagers go to Greasy Lake.
