Apparently, King Oedipus does not have free will and he cannot control the ultimate fate. In this case, it is clear that King Oedipus is just a mere pawn despite his bravery in rulership. He ruled Thebes with bravery but at the end of the story, fate befall him. By explaining one of his theories, king Oedipus helps the audience understand the source of fate. The gods were mad at him and his family and different prophecies came beforehand. For example, he believes the idea of killing his father was conceived before he was born. It was a prophecy that was released by the gods. Despite the fate of his parents, (death of his father and mother) Oedipus was just a pawn of the gods.
