From the time we had the technology that entailed development in technology, a lot has been happening to video and film production .There has been a lot of advancement that are aimed at enhancing the quality of production in our movies and films. Things were going on well and in the expected manner before the birth on an entity that is now threatening film and movie production houses and companies. The killer vice is piracy .Piracy is a vice that affects movie and film production negatively. Talking of piracy, this is the situation where we have individuals benefiting from a movie or film that they have not produced .this is done by unauthorized copying and distribution, for personal gain. The vice is so bad that many people have indulged into it, in a manner that is threatening to the industry .The vice is fought against by many economies, but it proves hard to deal with it effectively. despite the movies and films having protection from copying, through copyright laws the individuals we engage in piracy still do whatever they do without qualm on being caught ,provided they are making money .The aspects above are as presented below.
The first negative effect of piracy is that it leads to losses by movie production companies .When we assess the role of movie production, it is entertainment while giving us information and knowledge about many issues. That being the objective, those who produce it do all this with an aim of making profits. If it is not profitable, the movie company does not achieve. It is due to these profits that the companies get the urge to go on and on it the quest for producing more movies. These profits are attained by the sales which the movies make. If the sales are done by pirates, this is to mean that the movie company cannot get to enjoy its benefits and what it should get .this makes the company undergo losses which are so negative as they impair the way the company runs .This in an effect that is not good at all as it has with it the effects of objectives that are not realized.
The other effect is that piracy can lead to the death of a film industry .We have seen above that piracy leads to losses by movie companies. When this happens, the company may fail to fulfil some of the things that it does. In that way, the company may lack finds to help it run the way that it should be. When that happens, the company may be forced to close down as there is no enough income to make it run effectively.
The other effect is that piracy leads to loss of employment by those who work in movie production houses. We have very many workers who are situated at different places .These are the ones who help the company run effectively. They range from managers, electricians and actors .These are some of the workers that we have, though we have many others who are tied to the business directly or indirectly. When a company undergoes losses and closes down, this affects the company in a great way as these employees lose their jobs .these affects them as some are attached to the job as the main source of income. Loss of employment is not good as it makes some workers change their course of interest, which they have lived upon for a long time.
The other effect is that the contribution that is made by the movie and film production companies to the society is removed. There are very many contributions that movie production has on the economy .this includes what the movies produced had to offer. Some are knowledgeable, helping in emancipation of the people or acquisition of knowledge. We also have the taxes that are given by the company and the worker that work there to the economy .This are important as they help a country in one way or the other .If a company closes down, the country therein is affected in a great way.
