Among the noticeable characters are Brynner represented as Chris, there is McQueen, along with Coburn, Bronson and Vaughan. This essay gives a brief review and summary of the film, its context, and relevance to the contemporary society. In the film, thugs are seen to continuously rob a village in the nation, hence, in an attempt to stop this from persisting, the village head decides to seek the service of protectors from the border of Mexico and America. One character, Chris, is the first to be hired. At first he was a cowboy but upon being hired, he moves on to recruit five other boys who have a basic background in fighting (Dickson 12). A much younger lad joins the six to complete the squad. Armed with guns as well as knives, the seven men work hand in hand to protect the village by providing sound training to fellow village men in using all available weapons, from simple house knives to using guns, in order to defend themselves against attacks from the thugs. Success is almost assured to the village as traps are laid; a protection wall is built around the village and as overall security is tightened (Dickson 15). The awaited day comes as bandits invade the village. In the forefront are the seven protectors who courageously fight off the bandits. The bandits however seem to be escaping; not for good but to fetch more colleagues (Inglis 18).
