Scientific research defines skill as a unique inherent ability or gift that distinguishes a particular person from the others in the same field of specialization. On the other hand, vast majorities argue that talent can be easily acquired through learning and frequent practice. In the current times, several people worldwide have gainfully earned extraordinary skills through either persistence or regular practice. However, in the old notion nature or nurture agrees with the first group that believes that the innate capabilities such as born talents and essential genes play a vital role in various professions. In contrast, the second group of people believes that skills such as art and sports can be acquired through hard work and determination. I think strongly that people with expertise in their abilities are not born but made. Often, their expert abilities excel due to major sacrifices, constant practice and imitation of various specific ideas and styles of people that succeeded in the field.
The analysis by a renowned philosopher Immanuel Kant in the book ‘power of judgment,' explored the possibility of learning the art and nature beautiful ideas that support the process of originality that makes art. On the other hand, professors and teachers still ponder on the question of whether creative and artistic talent is learnable. For instance, Several professors claim that a majority of their students possesses innate ability while others do not while entering their class (Mighton, 15). However, this has resulted in the misconception that intelligence none related to acquired talents.
A few students refute the idea of a possibility that they could be talented or gain expertise in their talent through learning. On several occasions, students disqualify their piece of creative work proclaiming that they lack the ability. Although the policymakers have the assumption that the curriculum of the art education fosters creativity, the teaching of mastery of art is not given due to the rigidity in the plan of standard educational lessons.
