My First Trip Aboard
Two years ago, I began my professional career as a sailor after I got my Florida boat license. Still fresh I applied for a few marine positions in the most famous and grand private boats companies . Within a week's time I received an invitation from Trotters captain and got a job offer I couldn't refuse. The owner of the boat had reviewed my curriculum and was satisfied with my credential. I was to embark work the following day. Trotter is a magnificent Argentinean vessel, it is one of the oldest and gigantic vessels in the world. It is more than a hundred and fifty feet with the shape of a gargantuan shark. Wow! I was excited.
Early at dawn I was already on the marine ready to work. The captain had ordered one of the sailors to take me on a tour inside the boat. I was a bit anxious and nervous as I was taken around the floating mansion. My colleague took me over the work assignments before I began my tour inside the boat. The deck had been uniquely designed with a smooth wooden floor that extensively covered the whole place. There was a large family table that matched magnificently with the wooden floor like the one on the "last supper dinner" picture, plus a handmade wood bar full of drinks and glasses portraying a nice piece of art. We then went to the machine room which was as large as a warehouse. Inside was a huge mountain of horsepower and two caterpillars which were the heart and magic that propelled the gigantic vessel. The details of the interior of the boat was so detailed and imaginably bright beyond the most incredible interiors I had ever seen.
The odor of the most quality wood was all over as the door in front of us was open.
The boat itself was certainly a masterpiece. We swiftly moved towards third floor where the captain was anxiously waiting for us. The view of the coastline from here was so breathe taking. The vessels on the sea line appeared so minute like the eyes of a fly. After orders from the commanding officer we started getting everything into place and we were ready to embark on our voyage.
It was a sunny day in Miami and the few clouds that were on the sky were reflecting the water as a mirror in the clear blue water of the ocean. It was exactly ten am, when the boat owner and the rest of the passengers boarded the boat. The joy and happiness of the people were all over the place creating a fantastic atmosphere. The boat was crowed like a mall on Black Friday. Immediately the captain called upon all the crew members after getting information from the weather forecast of an impending storm.
