Introduction
He she and it is a novel by Marge Piercy talking of the future occurrence. The context is the year 2059 a future time after the world has suffered ecological destruction, death, world wars and famine. After the world had suffered these calamities a new world is formed consisting of social groups the rich or the multinational corporations and the poor. The people live in different cities and one of them is called Tikva. These cities are protected from the deadly environment under domes. The people’s daily life is to find ways of protecting themselves from the multis (multi corporations). A Cyborg or a man like programming (Yod) is created by Malkah to protect the people of Tikva. Some individuals in the village discover the change in Yods programming as he advanced faster than expected. The people of Tikva get to vote if Yod should be regarded human or not, I give my vote to support he counts as human.
This city seems to have different individuals who go through a lot of distress. Shira a granddaughter to Malkah get into problems with the husband and goes back to live with Malkah after divorce. After receiving consolation from Malkah she gets back to her initial job of network programming and she gets to work on the final programming details of Yod. This is an ultimate weapon as they make it and in turn the programing he gets makes him a cyborg man, (Piercy, 86).
Malkah the programmer of Yod gets to recall of a story in the Jewish community concerning a sixteenth century rabbi. Piercy talks of Maharal of Prague saying that there were threats among the Jews and the only help they could get was intellectual in nature. In a vision the maharal found out that the defense of their city would be brought about by developing a golem or what is referred to as a man of earth, as the last intellectual defense for the people. Maharal with his kabbalist disciples were able to bring up a man from the dead they referred to him as Joseph and he was to be the savior of the city. This shows that a creation could made of a man as Yod will be created to save human kind and due to his actions and ability he should be regarded as a person or more of a person not as a robot or something worthless. Malkah gets confused for a moment and she claims she could not differentiate the myth and the truth because of the program of Yod he is to be made a human savior. It worries her because off possible failures, (86).
Malkah is not having the best time ever with her programming especially after it was noticed that Yod advanced faster than expected, (171). He was turning more human faster and he is reported to have had sexual relations with Shira. This clearly shows that he had turned more...
