Introduction
The woman of color is one of the ground-breaking anthropology which consists of 18 plays. Each play is identified by its unique cultural practices and by the assumptions of the untold identification of women of color in the United States (Uno 25). It shows a cultural diversity between the community and women who makes it very diverse. The women of color create awareness and access the rapid growth in the field of literature to make the history and cultural changes. In the theatre, there is an involvement of personality, politics and socials issues that range from the noted urban myths, heterosexist, ancestral stories, poverty, cultural richness and racism along with the resonant past experience. They set the pace with their undoubted calls to cultural memories and autobiographies on their establishments. This paper aims at discussing the history and culture of Los Angeles and its significance to the play, the Queen’s Garden.
From the playwrights, the contributors virtually use the initiation or the establishment statements to show their work and their past experiences to each other. They also share some of their past cultural experiences specifically in terms of writings and their desires. This shows the definition of human and the emotional characteristics along with the human being recognition. From the past, it is concluded that they wanted to inform the present that becoming a material identity can be constructed positively. The first playwright, Brenda Wong Aoki (The Queen's Garden) is being echoed by several other people behind the scene. It is set in the Los Angeles County, California. The play is about a personal story and experienced after the Los Angeles riots.
History of Los Angeles
The present city of Los Angeles was first inhabited by the Tongva and Chumash tribes if the native Americans. It was founded in the year 1781 by a group of settlers who consisted of 14 families. The individuals were from the European heritage, native America and Africa who had journeyed from the present day Mexico and settled in the city of Los Angeles to do farming. The Rio San Gabriel battle of 1847 led to the united states taking full control of the Los Angeles city and the people were officially made the American citizens. The city is characterized by the civil wars which led to the signing of several treaties. The first Jewish services were conducted in Los Angeles in the year 1854. The civil wars finally ended in1865 and the Americans migrated to the city in large numbers. St Vincent was established as a first college and a township was also established. Currently, Los Angeles has 42 established colleges and universities. By 1890, the population of Los Angeles had increased drastically to 50,000 people and a new official flag was designed that year.
The economy of Los Angeles improved when oil was discovered in almost all areas of the city. Los Angeles population by 1900 was 102, 479. The japans immigrants arrived and settled in the city thus adding up to the population. The Southwest Museum of the American Indian opened in the year 1907 stored the important collections of artifacts belonging to the Native Americans. A Spanish newspaper was founded in 1926 and it was named La Opinion and today it prints out more than 130,000 newspapers daily. The Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, now referred to as the TCL Chinese Theatre was opened in 1927. The publication of the African-American newspaper called the Los Angeles Sentinel was done in the year 1933 (Niranjana 24). The Union Station that was opened in Downtown Los Angeles combined the Spanish Colonial, the streamline Modern motifs, and the mission. Los Angeles Chinatown Los Angeles then moved to its present location in order to make way.
Paintings have been made on the Great Wall of Los Angeles. The city is now referred to as the mural capital of the world since it has over 1,500 wall paintings all-round the city. Los Angeles is also the home of art entertainments. The Museum of Contemporary Art has the collections of the late 20th-century art in the United States (Burns 17). There were several theatres build in Los angles between the period of 1921 and 1930 of which half them were being changed to film and stages to increase the diversity of cultural preservation (Svetich 24)
Some of the stages in Los Angeles in the 20th centuries include the Hollywood bowl of 1916, the Greek theatre of 1929 finally the John Anson ford amphitheatre of 1920 which was rebuild and later reopened in 1931. Los angles become the country's most essential city due to the 1967 opening of the 2000 seat Ahmanson theatre along with the 750 seat mark forum. Located in the downtown region. Various significant upcoming theatres arose, this is because some of the country's professional writers, actors, and the directives lived around this place. Therefore, they provided the needed knowledge and skills to expound on the cultural preservation in Los angles (Gunckel 24).
Los angles best orchestras like the Los Angeles Philharmonic which was founded in 1919 performed in the Walt Disney concert of 2003. In the early 1930s, the classical music was boosted by the arrival of the European musicians, they included, Otto Klemperer and Arnold Schoenberg who resided at UCLA, the university with various outstanding programs of music. The Jazz and blues have been performed in Los angles since the early 1920s when the first Africa American Recorded Orchestra. The black Americans did both the Chicago blues and the Canadian blues.
In the 1930s the band eras emerged in Los Angeles. The band performers include Jo Stratford, Glenn Miller, and Lena Horne. South California was the center of the surface craze. This led to the rise of surf music promoted by Dick Dale. In the mid-1960s there was an emergence of the country rock style, this was fostered by the Byrds and the Burrito brothers (Gunckel 24).

The history of Los angles mainly focuses on how it was founded and the people who first settled there. The angles are known to be a metropolitan state consisting of Japanese, Chinese, Spanish and other small language groups. This is the reason why the author terms as both a Chinese Japanese, Scott, and Spanish. It forms the background of the play because it is mainly about the life and the experiences of the Author.
