In her book, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen presents the themes of pride and prejudice by reflecting on Elizabeth’s pride and prejudice against Darcy while viewing Darcy as a proud man. The first impression of Darcy shows pride of rank and fortune against Elizabeth’s family of being socially inferior and also Elizabeth being propelled by pride of self-respect and harboring prejudice against Darcy’s snobbery. Although this first impression is reversed to show them being intrigued to each other, later in the novel, Elizabeth overcomes her prejudice against Darcy and accepts his proposal.
