Introduction
In the contemporary society, marriage institution has taken a different path when compared to the traditional one. Because of the transformation of this institution, many have had a dilemma of whether to get married or lead their single handily without a companion. It is because of this dilemma that my proposal topic is both interesting to me and others.
Research Question
* What role does the marriage partner play in a marriage institution or relationship?
Basic Arguments
The disintegrated couples' relationship is the main source of mental torture among the children. The novel Kafka on the Shore depicts Kafka Tamura living an estranged life with his father (Murakami). Kafka's parents had a cold relationship, and this hostility was the reason why Kafka lived an alienated life with no parental love. Therefore, the relationship between husband and wife is essential in giving siblings psychological satisfaction which is the source of their happiness.
Finally, the Waiting novel by Ha Jin depicts couples as co-workers who assist each other at different levels. Shuyu, wife to Kong, discharges house chores alongside raising their children while her husband is working as a military doctor to bring food to the table for the rest of the family (Jin).
