Roosevelt’s goals in the New Deal
President Franklin D. Roosevelt took office as a president in 1933. At the time America was facing great problems both internally and externally. Roosevelt wanted to react as fast as possible towards the calamities that were facing America (Leuchtenburg, William 14). The situation left most of the American residents jobless; some families would go for days without food. The spirit of American people went down since no one was working on assisting them. All the problems started to diminish as Roosevelt took the seat of a president. In order to curb the calamities, Roosevelt adapted to short-term goals; goals that can change the face of America within a short period of time. In order to reacts faster, Roosevelt realized few achievable goals. He called his strategic plan of restoring American spirit a "New Deal”.
Economy recovery
Economy recover is one of the short-term goals that Roosevelt addressed. The previous government left a poor economy; debt from other countries as well as an imbalanced financial management. The new deal aimed at stabilizing the financial position of America as well as eliminating all financial problems that were established in the market. Roosevelt harmonized the price of goods and services by announcing a common price to all products and services. Some states and local government resources were fully messed up and hence leaving the nation at risk of bankruptcy. To curb the situation of bankruptcy, Roosevelt financed various states by allocating large amount of cash to boost the industrial and agriculture sectors. This deal recovered the economy of America until to date.
Job creation
By 1933, most of the Americans citizen suffered from unemployment. This condition subjected lots of families to poverty which resulted to starvation due to lack of food. The economy suffered from this condition since the cash inflow was limited. People continued to suffer until Roosevelt took the seat of a president. To curb the issue of unemployment, Roosevelt created special agencies that provided job for millions of people in America (Reiman, Richard 25). The New Deal saved the lives of many people and families; the living standard of people millions of people improved. To keep the morale of workers high, Roosevelt supervised the organization of labor unions. The unions help people to realize their rights. Workers could carry out their daily calls comfortably without fear of both internal and external factors.
Public investment
Due to various issues that were raised by citizens on the poor public amenities and services, the New Deal managed to invest in public work. People suffered from healthcare issues, transportation and also they lacked good education access. To boost the health care department, Roosevelt supervised the building of hundreds of thousands of hospitals. The hospitals would offer quality services to each and every citizen at a very low cost. Poor transportation affected people as well as the economy. Industries and agriculture sectors suffered a great problem due to poor transportation. Roosevelt curbed the issue of transport by allocating lots of funds for the construction of highways, bridges and other transportation infrastructure like railway. Various schools were also constructed around all states to help curb the situation of educational sector. People could access all reading materials and institution. Hundreds of thousands of schools were constructed as well as modern theaters and libraries. Roosevelt realized by improving education sectors, people will acquire more skills that are needed in variety of entities.
Building a great civil society
By improving the living condition of people, Roosevelt knew citizens of America will divert all their effort towards building an advanced society. The New Deal improved the lives of all citizens across all cities, towns and states. Citizens now realized the benefit of not only improving their living standard but also building a good foundation for a good society.
